MARLIES VAN BAALEN: ‘WE GAVE EVERYTHING’

Marlies van Baalen was unbeatable this morning in the Intermediaire I freestyle with Jacky Kennedy DVB (by Damsey). In the Prix St. Georges on Thursday she had to settle for second place, but in the freestyle she took revenge. The combination received 78.800%. Renate van Uytert – Van Vliet secured second place with Just Wimphof (by De Niro) with 77.415%. Jonna Schelststraete – Van den Ham completed the top three with Ironman (by Ferro). The pair received 75.990%.

‘The freestyle was very correct’

Marlies van Baalen is very enthusiastic about her test. ”It went super fine. She really did her thing in the crowded arena. This makes me extra proud. I went for the win. I know I have a very good horse and a very good freestyle. We gave everything we have and this turned out to be enough. She felt very loose, fine and relaxed. The freestyle was very correct. We both really enjoyed it. The trot, the shoulder in and the appuyements all felt very good. The bridle also felt very nice. She is a very elegant and classy mare. It’s a very pretty picture to see.”

‘She was born and raised with us’.

Jacky Kennedy DVB is an own breeding product of Dressuurstal van Baalen. ”She was born and raised with us. She has always been a very nice mare to work with. I really enjoy being able to train this horse at Dressuurstal van Baalen. This is what I love doing the most.”

Le Mans

”She is now first getting a nice vacation and after that I am going to train her quietly again. Then we will go to the international competition in Le Mans, France. Then her stablemate Habibi DVB will also join us.”

”Everyone comes to watch and encourage”

”I think it’s fantastic to ride here at Jumping Amsterdam. It’s a great competition. There are a lot of acquaintances of ours. Everyone comes to watch and encourage. There is a super atmosphere.”
