Ahmed Nasser Elnaggar wins opening class at Jumping Amsterdam 2025, The Telegraaf Prize

Ahmed Nasser Elnaggar claimed victory this morning in the first class of Jumping Amsterdam 2025, the Telegraaf Prize. The 24-year-old Egyptian guided the 10-year-old KWPN gelding Kennedy HX (by Vittorio) to a faultless round in the 1.35m class and clocked the winning time of 31.64 seconds in the jump-off.

Maud Agterberg

The Egyptian rider was 0.59 seconds faster than Maud Agterberg, who finished second with the 17-year-old KWPN gelding Dakota B (by Calvaro Z). Agterberg has been competing with this offspring of J.G. Boomkamp since July 2023.

Belgian Van der Linden takes third place

Dries van der Linden secured third place with the eight-year-old grey Castello Z (by Cornado II). The Belgian rider completed the 1.35m jump-off faultlessly in 32.41 seconds.

Three clear rounds

Ten combinations qualified for the jump-off, making it a high-paced competition for the top prize. Three combinations managed to deliver a second clear round.

A thrilling battle

The battle for the Telegraaf Prize was thrilling, with experienced horses having the upper hand. Kennedy HX has already gained significant experience in international showjumping under Christopher Burton. The Australian rider competed with the gelding from March 2021 to November 2024. In November, they won the Grand Prix at 1.45m in Oliva. Similarly, the runner-up Dakota B has plenty of experience at major events.

Second competition

“This is my first time competing at Jumping Amsterdam, and it’s a great honor. My heart was racing. At the start of the jump-off, I rode cautiously, but once I found my rhythm, I went for it. Kennedy has already jumped at 1.45m. I’ve only been riding him for two weeks, and this was our second competition. I hope I can ride Kennedy for a long time because he’s such a careful horse,” said Elnaggar.
