Annelinde Hoving supreme in 1.20m: ‘Oleta really has a winner’s mentality’
Top three
Anouk van der Velde, riding the six-year-old BWP mare Unique van de Hoenderheide (by Mr Uno-K van’t Kattenheye), was unable to match Annelinde’s result and had to settle for second place. The combination stayed clear of the fences and crossed the finish line in 31.49 seconds. Kristy Snepvangers came third with the nine-year-old gray Masara (by Zirocco Blue). The pair completed a clear round in 31.97 seconds.
“It felt right and she was super sharp”
Annelinde is very satisfied with her performance in the 1.20m. “It went really well, better than expected. She was already nice in the first round, although she was a little less sharp than usual. The jump-off was really bizarre, it felt right and she was super sharp.”
“It’s really cool to ride here.”
“I saw that there were ten clear rounds, all of which went through to the jump-off. I went in with the attitude that it was all or nothing for me. This is my first time here, and I wasn’t playing it safe. Unique is a very fast horse who can do this. When I rode into the arena, I really had a wow feeling. It’s an impressive and imposing arena. It’s really cool to ride here.”
Good preparation at IICH Groningen
“I rode in the selection competition in Exloo and we won. This earned us a ticket to Jumping Amsterdam. At the beginning of January, I had good preparation for IICH Groningen. Here I started Unique nationally in the 1.10m and internationally in the 1.20m. This also went very well.”
“Unique always gives 100%”
“My mare has a lot of temperament and is an introvert. She always gives it her all. She really has a winner’s mentality. She is also very careful. I have been riding her for 1.5 years. I first rode her for the owners for a year and a few months ago we bought her. I am very happy with this.”
