Generations at the top: Jumping Amsterdam opens anniversary edition with world-class sport

From 22 to 25 January 2026, RAI Amsterdam will host the 65th edition of Jumping Amsterdam. What began in 1958 as an international equestrian competition has grown into a fixture on the global sporting calendar. In this anniversary year, generations of elite sport come together in Amsterdam at the start of an exceptionally important season.

The starting point of a decisive sporting year

2026 is a year in which all eyes are on the major championships, culminating in the World Championships in Aachen this summer. Jumping Amsterdam traditionally serves as the first major test of the year, where form and ambition become visible. In the arena in Amsterdam, the tone for the season is set.

A clash of forces in show jumping

The Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ brings a field to Amsterdam where experience, titleholders and the next generation meet. Gilles Thomas arrives in the capital with confidence after his victory in Mechelen and a dominant win in Maastricht. Team Netherlands is led by, among others, Maikel van der Vleuten, Harrie Smolders and Willem Greve, for whom Jumping Amsterdam has long been a familiar stage.

International class comes from Great Britain with Robert Whitaker, while Germany’s Marcus Ehning also makes his appearance. The future of Dutch show jumping will likewise be on display in Amsterdam, with Kim Emmen, Hessel Hoekstra, Bas Moerings and Sanne Thijssen.

World-class dressage in the capital

The FEI Dressage World Cup™ presented by VriendenLoterij also features a line-up worthy of a jubilee edition. Great Britain sends a formidable team with Charlotte Dujardin, Charlotte Fry ,bringing her championship horse Glamourdale, and Becky Moody.

For the Netherlands, Emmelie Scholtens and Dinja van Liere will compete, riders known for their consistently high-level performances. Marieke van der Putten and young talent Rowena Weggelaar also complete the field.

Above all stands the name Isabell Werth. The most successful dressage rider of all time, and a frequent winner in Amsterdam, returns in this anniversary year in pursuit of further success, this time with DSP Quantaz.

65 editions of top sport in Amsterdam

Jumping Amsterdam celebrates its 65th edition by staying true to what it has always been: a stage for the very best in the world, a place where careers converge and new chapters begin. From established icons to riders on the verge of their breakthrough, generations of elite sport share the same arena here.
