Germany’s Daniel  Deusser  won today’s Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ 2019/2020 Western European League qualifier at Mechelen in Belgium with a spectacular last-to-go performance from the nine-year-old mare Killer Queen VDM.

In a 12-horse jump-off, the 2014 series champion was chasing the target time of 44.02 seconds set by Switzerland’s Pius Schwizer and the gelding Cortney Cox who where fifth-last into the arena. And although some of those ahead of him bettered that time, they couldn’t leave all the fences in place.

Deusser’s mare however was clear and quick, galloping home more than two seconds up on the clock for a big win for the Belgian-based German rider whose wife, Caroline, and family are deeply involved in the running of this memorial event dedicated to the memory of her late father, Eric Wauters.

Third place went to Belgium’s Wilm Vermeir (IQ van het Steentje), and Germany’s Christian Kukuk (Quintino) finished fourth.
