DIEDERIK VAN SILFHOUT SURPRISES COMPETITORS: ‘MISTER MASERATI GOES FOR IT’

Diederik van Silfhout did not drive to Amsterdam thinking he and Mister Maserati would win the final of the Subli Cup today. However, Van Silfhout and his KWPN-approved stallion left a strong field of five-year-olds behind and surprisingly won the prestigious competition for young dressage horses with 85.800%. In an exciting final with a high level of quality, Kim Alting rode to second place with Madison Ave. The combination scored 83,400%. Femke de Laat completed the podium with Mission and received 83.000%.

‘This was one of his better tests’

Diederik van Silfhout was obviously very happy with his test. ”It was one of his better tests so far. In the outdoor season he won two pre-selections. Then he also ran two very good tests. Now it was really finished.”

“But with such a strong field of competitors, you don’t immediately assume that you are going to win this final. The thing is: Mister Maserati is a real sport horse, he just goes for it in the ring.

‘When it has to happen, he’s there’

”I have been riding Galleria’s Mister Maserati since he was three years old. He is a very nice horse to handle, but sharp. He really has a lot of blood. This environment was exciting for him, but when it has to happen, he is really there.

Special competition

Diederik always enjoys riding at Jumping Amsterdam. ”It is a very special show. There is always a lot of atmosphere and sociability. If it goes well then it’s even more fun.”

In 2023 ZZ-Zwaar

Diederik has already made a plan for 2023. ”I’m going to gradually prepare him for the ZZ-Zwaar. We are now going to focus more on the regular sport. This way he can also gain more competition experience. I don’t know yet if we are going to ride World Cup selections. This depends on how everything develops.”
